French Nail Art
French Nail Art 2021: French nail art is probably one of the most popular ways of coming up with a variety of designs from the absolutely funky to the exotically elegant. Using at least two polishes, this play on the traditional French manicure can be as simple as changing the polish colors or as elaborate as adding 3D designs.
For beginner's nail art though, using the French nail art technique is one of the easiest ways to make even the simplest designs look stunning and it helps us newbies to the nail art world have beautiful and cool nails without hitting the salons.
So what's a traditional French manicure? A basic French manicure is a very natural, crisp, clean and elegant look using a very sheer pink or natural polish on the full nail and contrasting it with a rather bright "snow" white tip where the white covers only the nail tip.
Nothing fancy, although for some even this technique can be cumbersome for beginners when they try to make that perfect straight line across the tip of the nail.
And so - enter French nail art - away to get around that perfectly straight clean line by adding some extras, like a smudged or blurred effect, or applying extra strokes between the tip and nail colors to "hide" the "errors" in the straight line.
But really, the French manicure may be one of the most forgiving for the beginner nail artist because you can really dress up your style by applying a variety of embellishments as a sort of play on the French manicure.
In other words, you polish your whole nail one color and then polish or sponge only the tips with a contrasting color that adds a design. And no matter how haphazardly that tip color ends up being, if you're using extra colors and simple techniques to blur or soften the tip line, no one will know you made any "mistakes." They'll just think you designed it to be that way intentionally.
And the styles are only limited by your imagination when it comes to doing French nail art. The French tip can be lace, stripes, stars, diagonal or asymmetrical. The line between the two contrasting colors can be sharp, dotted, blurred or using a sponge, they can have an air-brushed effect.
French nail art is used in so many ways. You can start with a basic, traditional French manicure and simply add a dot or two here and there, top it with some clear glittery polish and your wedding nails are done.
Or you can add glitter and 3D accents like tiny rhinestones in a variety of colors for a night on the town or a fancy dinner.
Looking to celebrate a holiday? Try some French nail art like adding a heart design on the tip to celebrate Valentine's Day; soft pastel flowers along the tip for Easter; bright sunny colors to accent your summer fashions.
For the Fourth of July, Memorial Day and Labor Day holidays, polish your nails white and add red and blue stripes to the white tips and some red and blue stars to the rest of the nail.
And one of the easiest ways for us beginners to get a really nice French nail art tip is by using the cosmetic sponge technique for even application of the polish along the tips of the nails. This is a great way to make sure your dominant hand looks just as good as your non-dominant hand too!
